On Sunday 16 July Mill Hill hosted the unveiling of the blue heritage plaque to honour the life and work of Old Millhillian Patrick Troughton (1933-1937).

Patrick played the second Doctor in the cult TV series from 1966 – 1969. When the school opened it’s theatre in 1998, it was named in his memory.

Among those gathered at the event was the legendary seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy, who credits Patrick with the success of his own career saying it was only because of the brilliant way that Patrick played the second Doctor, that the series was able to continue.

Mill Hill’s Head of Performance Drama, Alex Gatherer opened the event and Patrick’s children Michael and Joanna unveiled the plaque after Michael shared moving memories of his father.

It was a wonderful occasion and we hope the plaque will serve as an inspiration to all Mill Hill pupils.
